Victorian homeowners considering solar should take immediate action.
From 1 July 2026, the combined household income eligibility requirement for the Victorian Solar Homes Program will change. To remain eligible for a solar PV and/or hot water rebate, households must have a combined annual income of $150,000 or less.
If your household income is currently between $150,000 and $210,000 per year, now is the time to act.
Important Deadline: 5 PM on 30 June 2026
To secure eligibility under the current income requirements, your application must be fully submitted by:
5:00 PM on 30 June 2026
To meet this deadline, all required details and supporting documents must be provided through the Service Victoria portal, and the application must be formally submitted.
Applications that are saved but not submitted, incomplete applications, or applications that time out will not be assessed under the current eligibility requirements.
Income Eligibility Change from 1 July 2026
The current combined household taxable income threshold of $210,000 will reduce to:
$150,000 per year
Any application submitted after the deadline will be assessed under the new income eligibility cap.
Solar PV Rebate Eligibility
Victorian homeowners may be eligible for a solar panel rebate if:
- They are the owner-occupier of an existing property or a home under construction where the system will be installed.
- Their combined household taxable income meets the eligibility requirements.
- The property is valued at less than $3 million.
- The property has not previously received a Solar Homes solar panel rebate.
- A solar PV system has not been installed at the property within the last 10 years.
- They have moved into a new owner-occupied property that has not previously received a Solar Homes rebate.

If your household income is between $150,000 and $210,000, waiting could affect your eligibility once the new income cap takes effect on 1 July 2026.
The deadline is approaching, and applications require all supporting documentation to be completed and submitted before 5 PM on 30 June 2026.
